Let Spike Jones call the race for you.

Be sure to stick with it through the seemingly normal intro, before all hell breaks loose in typical, brilliant Spike Jones style.

Now that’s something I haven’t heard since Dr Demento was on the air.

It’s absolutely brilliant stuff. Lots of it is on YT, including film of Jones’ madcap TV show. Meticulously rehearsed, here’s an 8-minute clip that was done in one take.

I grew up listening to Spike, and George Rock is one of the greatest, under appreciated trumpet players out there. Spike played a damn fine set, too.

How many dead people is it worth to not have a one year gap in the list of Indy 500 winners?
